Abstract
Supply chain management is an essential tool for streamlining organisational performance. The study examines how supply chain management works in the manufacturing and service sectors, including its background, advantages and disadvantages. This study illustrates the differences between supply chain management in the manufacturing and service industries in the United Kingdom. As per the reviewed literature, supply chain management offers numerous benefits, such as improved competitive advantage and sustainability. It also provides optimised service, lowered operational costs and product quality. There is a lack of comparison between supply chain applications in manufacturing and service industries. This study seeks to bridge this gap by comparing the practices of supply chain management in the manufacturing and service industries in the UK. It will also determine the best practices in each industry.
