In the past, research on carbon steel service life has focused on the corrosion rates of carbon steel for short periods such as days or weeks, or carbon steel pipework failure investigations. There is a need to predict the service life of carbon tube systems by researching the factors that impact the service life of carbon tubes and the environment in which carbon tubes will be functioning for an extended length of time. This research provides the groundwork for developing a toolkit for TATA steel by developing a toolkit for carbon tubes that forecast the service life of pipe systems that can be expanded to include other materials such as aluminium by repeating the procedures used in this study. The carbon tube toolkit was created by compiling and summarising current corrosion standards and corrosion research articles. Furthermore, the toolkit was designed in a basic format with multiple-choice questions so that everyone could comprehend it. The project effectively classified corrosion rates into six categories by adopting corrosion standards and corrosion papers, as well as developing a systematic approach for identifying these categories and calculating the service life of TATA steel carbon tubes.
