Various studies discussed in the relevant literature have examined the association between obesity and psychological health, and the findings have been mixed. While an overwhelming number of studies support the theory that obesity has a negative effect on psychological health, a few peer-reviewed studies, representing the jolly fat hypothesis, deny that there is a connection between obesity and mental health. This research aims to systematically review various studies in order to conduct a critical appraisal of the included papers that explore the relationship between obesity and psychological health
