Abstract

Repair Café is a network of 50 community centers in Wales that allows people to fix their household items without any cost to reduce waste. This network allows people to run the community centers for a cleaner and greener environment(Carbon-Copy 2023). Repair café was founded in 2017 by Joe O’Mahoney and Cerys Jones. It is a community center that was established with a purpose of creating a greener and sustainable environment by reducing waste. The café provides repair services to individuals to decrease new production of products and less consumption of resources. Besides, the café contributes to better waste management by repairing the products that would have been wasted and resulted in landfills. In April 2017, the first café opened in the Cathays area, Cardiff. The idea was highly appreciated by individuals. People travelled miles and visited the Repair Café to get their products repaired. The vision of Repair café, “a cleaner and greener world” was loved and appreciated by people. Therefore, the founders decided to expand and open more Repair café. The management measures the performance by recording the number of items fixed that would have been wasted or resulted in landfills. The performance of the café is also measured by the carbon emissions that have been saved through repairs, recycling, and reducing the production of new products(Carbon-Copy 2023). The Problem The cost of establishing a Repair Café is £500. This is one-time cost for establishing a new community center. This initial capital is usually arranged through donations. Currently, Repair Café receives donations from the Welsh government through various channels. The cost of running a Repair Café is not high and can be easily managed through donations collected at community center. However, the one-time initial cost is a barrier to establishing a new community center. The organisation wants to expand but needs to raise funds from more diverse channels. Therefore, it is necessary to set up regular donation channels for raising funds. Significantly, it is important to target the corporate sector and persuade the management to provide donations for managing set-up costs. In order to target the corporate sector, it is necessary to look at this initiative to develop three packages i.e., bronze, silver, and gold. Each package offers different benefits and features to the corporations who provide donations to the café. However, there is a need to identify companies that can be targeted, creating the three packages, and marketing these packages to the identified companies in the right way.
