Abstract

This project covers Lagardère Travel Retail’s learning and development practices within the Saudi Arabian market. While the corporation has a long and outstanding reputation for adopting effective learning and development practices, the COVID-19 outbreak of early 2020 greatly impeded such growth strategies. Therefore, this MRR aims to understand Lagardère Travel Retail’s learning strategies in order to propose feasible recommendations for achieving learning and development goals amidst the coronavirus outbreak. The introduction section contains the background, justification for the study, and the papers’ aims and objectives. This part precedes the literature review that provides insights into secondary and primary literature on the learning and development frameworks adopted by various organizations. The subsequent section is the methodology section that contains the selected strategy for data evaluation and collection. Finally, the data were analyzed using thematic assessments before the conclusion and discussion sections were authored. After conducting research using primary and secondary sources, one can deduce the detrimental impacts of the COVID-19 on learning and development. Furthermore, the use of qualitative research methods offers significant insight into the employees’ opinions towards the digital and online learning paradigms. Accordingly, this report centers on the employee’s work-life balance and their perceptions towards work quality and efficiency. Thus, the MRR highlights the pros and cons of utilizing digital and online learning methods to overcome the barriers of the COVID-19 outbreak. In the end, it was found that previous learning and development strategies were tied to employee benefits. Thus, the new framework should include these elements as well.
