Parental attitudes towards children's participation in the immersion education programme in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Abstract
Immersion programmes employ a method of teaching specifically designed to
expose learners to a second language and, ultimately, develop them into bilinguals.
These programmes focus on developing proficiency and competence in the second
language while ensuring that these don’t come out the expense of their native
proficiency in the native language. The Saudi government currently views
international business as the future of the economy: this means that future generations
must be well versed in English to take advantage of the global economic environment
