This report begins a detailed investigation into the challenges and possibilities of combining security and sustainability in Smart transportation systems, with a particular focus on Manchester. The research seeks to comprehend the complex task of using smart technologies in transportation, taking into account environmental care, technological progress, and city growth. The methods used include an extensive review of existing literature, visits to relevant sites, interviews with experts, and comparisons with London and Oslo's transportation systems. The main findings expose the complex nature of security problems, the obstacles to sustainability, and the room for innovation in smart transportation. The report provides specific insights into Manchester's vision for Smart Transport, the views of its residents, and observations from real-world situations. It also proposes strategies and recommendations inspired by successful examples and adapted to fit Manchester's individual needs. The conclusions emphasise the complex relationship between technology, security, sustainability, and the well-being of the community, outlining a plan for other cities aiming to develop intelligent, strong, and compassionate transportation systems. The report also acknowledges its limitations and suggests areas for further study, underlining the continuous development of this field. As a scholarly work, the report adds valuable insights to the discussion on Smart transportation, offering practical guidance for those involved in policymaking, city planning, transportation management, and academic research.
