The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Laws and Regulations regarding Foreign Direct Investment: A critical analysis of whether the current legal framework provides sufficient support and protection for foreign investors

Abstract

With the state's tendency to diversify its income sources, it has paid significant attention to foreign investment, as it is one of its aims. As the foreign investments provide advantages to the host country, the kingdom provides wide investment opportunities. The most important is to protect the foreign investor at the entry stage into the Saudi market or during the implementation of investment activities inside it and the settlement of investment disputes. This research mainly provides an analysis of the Saudi Foreign Investment Law of 2000. In addition to other laws, the rules of governance, labor law and arbitration law. However, it should pay attention to the need for legal reforms and overcome problems, especially the root ones, for instance: Sharia and the public interest.
