dc.description.abstractThe current study aims to investigate the request speech act strategies used by ESL (English as a Second Language) learners in comparison to BE (British English) native speakers. Data was collected using (WDCT) Written Discourse Completion Task. The research investigated the effects of social power and social distance on requests. The findings revealed similarities and differences between Saudi ESL learners and BE native speakers in making requests.
