Abstract

This systematic review revealed inadequate reporting in systemic candidiasis studies of mice treated with amphotericin B, particularly data directly associated with animal welfare, with the experiments often resulting in death. The ARRIVE guidelines are thought to be an excellent tool for generating high-quality reports. Nevertheless, their insufficiency could be attributed to the lack of interest on the part of many researchers to use this guide, as well as to the reality that many journals do not require that this guide be followed, particularly by those whose primary purpose is not animal welfare. The ARRIVE guidelines allow researchers to use this guide to raise the overall quality of scientific research and thereby ensure the welfare of the animals.
