Optimal Design Of Hybrid Energy System For Residential House In NEOM City Using HOMER Software
Abstract
his report presents the optimal planning of the hybrid energy system to minimize the total investment cost of the system to feed electricity to some residential building in new NEOM city, Tabuk, KSA. The supposed energy system consists of photovoltage generator which is the main source of energy and battery storage system which is the energy back up to the system. This system connected to an inverter to feed the load demand with zero load rejection and 100% renewable energy as there is no depend on the grid or fossil fuels sources.
The optimal size of each system components are obtained using the HOMER software program with the objective of minimizing the cost of the electricity generated from the hybrid system over 25 years which is the project lifetime. The result illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed system in providing a low cost and clean energy to the studied area over 25 years without depend on the utility grid. Moreover the simulation results illustrates that the optimal size of the proposed system require a 412 kW from PV panels, 2,420 kWh of battery and inverter size of 114 kW to reduce the cost of electricity to 0.404 $/kWh.
