Abstract

The effective operation research deployed in different life sectors around our daily life. The shipping market after the containerisation opened the trade winds to go in various directions in scheduled service and on stable routes with fixed stops and milestones . The ports sea or dry are the hinterlands for containers and the pilling up the boxes from the box ships was the suitable storage for the units on the yards . The access to the dry ports or the locked lands required some policies for stacking and making blocks . The railways as its scheduled and heavy loads propeller combined with sea to provide Sea- rail multi-modal . In the literature review section the container yard challenges and blocking the containers took academic attentions by different authors within different aspects .The terminals facing challenges like layout, minimise space utilising and maximise yard cranes usage within yard transfers. The optimisation and simulation models that found by the authors viewed the complicated different problems that related whether the units inbound or outbound and the limitations for the container’s sizes and cargos types and sometimes customer types and clearing process. However, all the studies were diverting from side to side in multi horizons of the topics, all the authors agree that the researches are less than expected. The problem that I investigated and hold to focus on it was wide and trying to simplify it and summarised it was tiring process. The bottleneck was how to minimise the total cost and find the optimal 3 trains between 504 slots to be place on three journeys each have 14 slots only. Beside this there is an obligation to place one single train which have the lost costs. Building the model with the related data drive to better solutions and provided number of them for various decisions .The timing that elapsed form the Evolver was a matter to be observed here and give understanding how the two level solution or two objective function. Would work with more advanced optimization tools.
