Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a group of manmade compounds. Most of PFASs are highly persistent and have been linked to adverse effects in humans. There are more than 4700 PFASs registered, and most of PFASs have been used in consumer products worldwide. In this thesis investigation into the thermal behaviour of organofluorine compounds, a class of persistent organo-pollutants, with the development of a method able to quantify different species of PFASs present in a methanolic solution, as a tool for the mass balance of organic fluorine.
