BRIDGE INSPECTION MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR SAUDI ARABIA
Abstract
Bridges are among the most complex and expensive structures, making them significant projects in infrastructure and transportation in general. This project intends to examine the difficulties and challenges in the current bridge maintenance inspection strategy in Saudi Arabia (KSA). The research aims to contribute to the development of bridges inspection through a study based in KSA. Applying a quantitative method as a questionnaire and analysing the data using the SPSS to identify field problems with the current inspection procedures and assessments in KSA. The research was based on six major bridges inspection problems in the literature review. The six problems in the questionnaire were presented to the participants, who are bridge experts in KSA, to evaluate them in terms of importance and add any other problems. The participants added two major crucial problems. Also, comparison between four developed countries in terms of inspection types and their intervals. As a result, recommendations to improve the bridge screening process in KSA were made.
