A software tool to help in vocabulary retention using spaced repetition
Abstract
English learners encounter many difficulties during their learning journey, one of which is learning and recalling vocabulary. Though there are various tools designed to aid in learning vocabulary, few of them deal with the retention of vocabulary. This dissertation proposes a web app that makes use of an educational practice called spaced repetition, which is proven to enhance the process of memorization. Because learners vary in their needs, the proposed tool provides a personal solution that can be utilised by any learner. It will enable learners to track their vocabulary and serve as a log for their reference. Words are saved online, so the tool is accessible anywhere, on any device. The proposed system will also detect the most frequently added words and provide tools to facilitate revising them, which will enhance memorization.
