Abstract
This project evaluated the effectiveness of the NHSBT Red Cell Immunohaematology (RCI) New Starter and Intensive Courses using the Kirkpatrick Four-Level Model. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining survey responses from participants with qualitative interview data. The findings showed high satisfaction, improved knowledge and confidence, and positive behavioural changes in routine RCI practice. Participants reported better problem-solving, clearer understanding of antibody investigation, and stronger adherence to quality procedures. The courses were found to provide meaningful educational and organisational benefits, while highlighting areas for enhancement such as increased case-based learning and updated digital resources.
