THE IMPACT OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE AND THE METHODS AND TECHNIQUES OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT – AN ANALYSIS OF THE LITERATURE
Abstract
Employees are one of the major assets of an organisation. They play an active role in the success of the company, which cannot be underestimated. Because of this, employees should be well-equipped with proper skills. Thus, the implementation of appropriate training and skill development procedures becomes a key factor in the maximisation of employee performance. This also ensures that the employees are better positioned to face and overcome the daily challenges of the modern competitive business environment. Even though extensive research in the area of training and development exists, there is no conclusive research regarding the methods and techniques of training and development.
The aim of this study is to analyse the literature concerning the impact of training and development on the performance of employees, along with the methods and techniques employed by organisations for this purpose. This study was performed by using a global systematic literature review as the method of research to provide a comprehensive understanding of the research topic and questions.
The data was collected from sources, such as journals, books and articles. The study made use of secondary data and other academic sources were also considered. Based on the findings from the secondary data collected by the researcher, there is a positive connection between training and the development of skill with employee performance. The findings of the study can be useful for academics and also for the business organisation.
