The Challenges and Solution for leadership at Nokia
Leadership is a demanding role in different categories of organisations. Although leadership has dissimilar meanings across various contexts, it is generally agreed that it is a process that involves one individual providing direction to others in the pursuit of collective goals (Al-Hussami, Hammad and Alsoleihat, 2018). Within the world of business, the responsibility of leadership is compounded by the rapidly changing nature of the environment (Sartori et al., 2018). Against this backdrop, the present report covers the challenges of leadership and potential solutions based on the case of Nokia, a formerly rising enterprise within the telecommunications sector. The research is organised in five sections, namely the introduction, leadership challenges, potential solutions, application to the case of Nokia, and conclusion.
Global Value Chains in turbulent times in Sony
Sony is one of the largest and most influential multinational tech corporations headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The company specialises in the production of electronic products, games, images and senses solutions. Currently, Sonny is one of the largest players in the game console market. Sony’s market share in the gaming segment remains stably large – 46% share of the total value (Queiroz & Mota 2021). PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 2 are Sony’s most successful and best-selling game consoles as cumulative sales of the first one are more than 115.9 million units by 2021 and the second one – more than 155 million units by 2012 (Sony Interactive Entertainment, n./d.). Sony Interactive Entertainment also specialises in research and development in the gaming industry, production of software and hardware for the sector, and development of video games. Consoles and other gaming products and services are best sold in the American, European, Japanese, and Chinese markets (Kunnathur 2019, p.4). Except gaming, Sony is also involved in other forms of entertainment, such as music, films, and television.
