YouTube's Adpocalypse The Effect of Demonetization on The Output of Top YouTube Creators

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of demonetization on the output of top YouTube creators. The content analysis method was utilized in order to explore the content of four popular YouTube channels. The findings of this study suggest a shift in YouTube's landscape after Adpocalypse and illustrate a significant increase in product promotion after Adpocalypse. In addition, the results show that YouTube's policies have a strong impact on shaping UGC.
