Abstract

This study aims to identify the current threat landscape of the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing protocol based on reviewing its common attacks. Therefore, this study focuses on an “Adjacency Spoofing Attack” provided by Song et al. (2017) because it is a recently introduced attack, and it leads to further common networks attacks when it succeeds. Thus, this attack will be analysed to recognise its threat and impact on OSPF networks, based on its procedures, to outline the threat landscape. An appropriate countermeasure of this attack can then be implemented to demonstrate how to prevent it.
