Parallel flange channels (also known as C-channels or C-sections) are widely used in various structural applications, including building frames, bridges, and industrial machinery, posing a dire need to understand the structural behavior and optimizing the design of parallel flange channels can lead to more efficient and cost-effective structural systems. The main objectives of this research are two folds; first, investigation of the structural behavior of parallel flange channels under different loading conditions, and second, evaluation of the influence of various geometrical parameters on the structural performance. In this study, FEA analysis (Numerical Study) will be performed to simulate the structural behavior of parallel flange channels under different loading scenarios using the commercially available solver ANSYS APDL/Workbench. Moreover, the parametric optimization will performed for optimized load carrying capacity, Shear stress capacity, bending moment capacity, bending resistance, and buckling resistance against various structural parameters of beam i.e., Flange Width, Flange Thickness, Web Depth, Sectional Modulus, Moment of Inertia, Cross-Sectional Area, Applied Load and for identification of critical factors affecting the behavior of beam under particular loading conditions (e.g. Simply supported beam with uniformly distributed load). The study results obtained from the numerical simulation will be validated against the analytical calculations for the particular cases. The expected outcomes of this research will be Improved understanding of the structural behavior of parallel flange channels; Design consideration for the efficient and safe use of parallel flange channels in structural applications through parametric optimization; These performance parameters help engineers and designers evaluate and select beams that can effectively meet the structural requirements while ensuring safety, serviceability, and efficiency in a given application. (It is important to consider these parameters in conjunction with applicable design codes, standards, and project-specific constraints to make informed decisions regarding beam selection and design)
