Abstract
This systematic review aims to assess the efficacy of the use of high tidal volumes in ventilation in patients with high spinal cord injuries. The primary outcome assessed was the incidence of successful weaning from mechanical ventilation. The incidence and pattern of these outcomes has then been compared with the use of moderate and low volume ventilation in order to assess and determine the better suited ventilation strategy in the group of patients being studied. A detailed literature review was conducted to identify gaps in the literature and address them through suggestions for future research and development.
