Abstract

This literature review aims to investigate the multifaceted factors associated with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), a fatal disorder that mysteriously affects infants under one year of age. Although the exact causes of SIDS remain uncertain, risk factors including age, gender, ethnicity, prematurity and genetics are examined. The review will explore both inherent and environmental factors linked to SIDS and evaluate current preventive methods and interventions with the goal of proposing evidence-based improvements for clinical practice and public health policy. The study's findings may assist in identifying those at higher risk and devising effective strategies to mitigate SIDS prevalence; thus, it will benefit infants, families, healthcare providers and future research in the field. To attain these objectives, a comprehensive review of the existing literature from authentic sources such as journal articles, government websites, and healthcare-related databases will be conducted.
