The cyberspace is an important space in the Jurisdiction of the UK as well as in the world. The space is often referred to as the virtual computer world where millions of internet users interact. The cyberspace is thus a crucial space that needs to be protected to enhance safety of numerous transactions. My dissertation investigated the security of the cyberspace and particularly the efficiency of UK Computer Misuse Act of 1990 in preventing online Fraud and phishing attacks. The dissertation investigated existing laws, their efficiency and the extent in which they may have contributed to the increase in the number of online fraud and phishing attacks. In the end, my dissertation provided several recommendations which if implemented may contribute to the safety of the cyberspace, particularly controlling online fraud and phishing attacks in the UK.
