dc.description.abstractCracks formation is a phenomenon and issue that most concrete structures have been experiencing among decades in the civil engineering industry. It weakens the concrete durability and increases maintenance cost. Self-healing concrete is considered a promoted innovation that could overcome these issues with concrete structures. Various approaches of self-healing concrete have been covered in the existing literature, including different mechanisms. In the current study, the numerical simulation approach has been conducted in which seven specimens are modelled using ABAQUS 6.14 software. The self-healing concrete is added to the beam models with various depths, to capture the performance of the SHC on a structural element (beam) at a various dosage of self-healing concrete, which is the aim of this study. Those models are analysed and compared to the reference model without SHC in the mean of load vs displacement curve. The results show a distinct improvement of the load-carrying capacity of SHC beams in which 61% and almost 20% overstrength of the yield and both cracking & ultimate strength. In further works, the experiment is conducted in which three specimens of self-healing concrete and ordinary concrete are prepared and tested in the mean of compressive strength at different ages such as 18 hrs, 24 hrs, 7 and 28 days to track the response at an early and late stage.
