Abstract

The construction sector has always been and continues to be a high-risk area because of the number of fatalities reported on yearly basis. Taking into consideration, Saudi Arabia which is a developing nation, the construction sector is on the rise because of the government’s action called as Saudi Arabia Vision 2030, which encompasses an extensive range of various building projects. However, Saudi Arabia have seen an increase in the number of fatalities coming from improper health and safety legislations in construction sites. This implies that more attention should be provided to the creation of optimum legislation that is required to be implemented to make sure that an adequate level of safety persists at the workplace. This paper reviewed academic materials to under the health and safety in Saudi Arabia and UK construction industry. Furthermore, it followed a qualitative approach to gather data within the sector and thematic analysis was used to analyse generated data. The analysed data indicated that management, organisational culture, communication, employee behaviour, accountability were the main causes for poor Health and Safety procedures Saudi Arabia construction sites.
