Decision Support System for Resources Assessment of Manufacturing Capability Technology Transfer
Abstract
Abstract
Technology transfer is one of the primary reasons behind the current development of
technology around the world. It involves the transfer of knowledge, research results, design,
skills and other required manufacturing capabilities from a place to another. The processes of
evaluating the quality of available resources to the selected technology represent a critical
decision as it involves significant investment and commitment. However, there is no
measurement of technology transferability that has been found which can be described in a
numerical value. This research will review some technology transfer model and propose an
interactive decision support system (DSS) that measures the technology transferability. The
development methodology primarily adopts a tailored version of ISO 15288 technical process
in connection with some other system ensnaring tools such as Functional Failure Mode and
Effects Analysis (FFMEA) and Soft Systems Methodology (SSM). The outcome of the DSS
prototype that has been developed can indeed guide the assessment process of technology
transfer capability. Moreover, it provides a starting point for the standardisation of evaluation
processes due to the models' consistency and accepted standard for system develop
