A scoping review of oral health promotion for children with intellectual disabilities and physical impairments
Abstract
The evidence from this scoping review suggests that further studies are necessary
with larger sample sizes of children with a range of conditions, such as physical disability,
communicative and behavioural disabilities, in order to explore the ways that different
conditions affect oral health. Preventive programs supporting formal and informal carers need
implementing to target communities experiencing high levels of inequality and social
deprivation and therefore focusing on those most in need.
