Further research with large sample sizes and control groups is suggested to identify the exact effect of the interventions that occupational therapists implement, specifically in mental health settings. This will increase the overall generalisability of the review. To improve the conclusion arrived at on the effectiveness of interventions utilised by occupational therapists in the mental health setting, the review should ideally focus on one intervention and a specific mental health diagnosis, which should lead to a homogeneity across the studies that will allow for exact statistical comparisons in a meta-analysis.
