Systematic review: Investigating the Efficacy of Handwashing in Managing Infection Prevention and Control

Abstract

This study explored how cross-infection occurs through hands, the efficacy of handwashing in controlling the spread of infection, and how hand hygiene can be improved in the community and hospital environments. The main aim of this study was to review published literature to determine the effectiveness of hand hygiene in eliminating transient microorganisms to prevent cross-infection.
