Evaluating Methods for Hiding Medical Records in Medical Images
Abstract
Health services operating on telecommunication technologies allow patients the opportunity to receive healthcare services from remote locations. The sensitivity of electronic medical records requires a secure mechanism for their transmission over the Internet. Recent studies have shown that steganography techniques can be used to embed medical records in medical images. Therefore, in this project, LSB and PVD steganography techniques were evaluated on three modalities: X-Ray, CT, and MRI. The project evaluates the effectiveness of embedding medical records in medical images and compares the results of the two techniques on the different modalities. It also explores the differences between using DICOM file format and PNG.
