Dissertation title: "Vision 2030 and its impact on Saudi Arabia’s Economic and Political Relations"
Vision 2030 is changing Saudi Arabia's economic priorities and, much more pressing, accelerating geoeconomics realignment towards Asia in the context of deep economic interconnections with China and India. This rising focus towards Asia, particularly China and India, through Vision 2030 indicates that Saudi has shifted its attention in its political and economic diplomacy, in efforts for a geopolitical "rebalancing" toward Asia—a continent that is picking up ever more speed as an acting global player. This research hopes to identify the changes that Vision 2030 has brought about in reconfiguring Saudi Arabia’s economy and its relationships with the rest of the world. Additionally, the study will further delve into the geopolitical dimension of the Saudi Arabian pivot to Asia. It aims to examine the strategic implications of Saudi Arabia’s deepening relations with Asia and the long-term consequences for the international political system. The research argument is that Vision 2030 strategically reorients the nation to Asia as a driving force for securing economic stability through diversified partnerships by breaking away from overreliance on Western allies. The guiding research question, therefore, is, how has Vision 2030 reshaped Saudi Arabia's trade relations and geopolitical strategies toward key Asian nations, particularly China and India? The study has significance to policymakers, potential investors, and academics targeting facets of economic policies, global commerce, and power.
