Abstract

Wearable technology spreads widely between consumers recently. Research has shown that wearable technology consumers are expected to spend more than 62 billion US dollars in 2021. Therefore, it is an enticing opportunity to invest and study this promising market. This research will focus on how to improve the wearable technologies used in the healthcare sector commercially and technically. In this context, wearable technology is defined as electronic devices that are physically worn by individuals for different purposes like track fitness or monitor heart rates. Based on a review of various literature, an online survey was distributed to a group of participants who are interested in wearable technology. The questionnaire was asking about potential features that might add significant value to the users of wearable technology. Analysis of the responses demonstrated that people would like to enhance the current products in terms of design, functionality, and sustainability. Regarding the negative environmental impact, the results indicate that more than 80% of the participants don’t consider recycling as a preferable option. On this basis, it is recommended that the importance of the circular economy is promoted and the culture of recycling is encouraged.
