Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy with which coronary artery disease (CAD) could be diagnosed using rubidium (Rb)-82 positron emission tomography (PET) with magnetic resonance imaging. Method: A systematic review was performed to search for appropriate studies that met predefined criteria, and then test eligible studies for risk of bias. The studies were synthesized after reviewing the methods to ensure that they were comparable with invasive coronary angiogram as a gold standard. Results: This study enclosed 1191 patients from twelve studies: 332 patients from PET studies and 859 patients from imaging studies. The study has concluded that the accuracy of PET of the detection of coronary artery disease is higher than MRI at 87% and 83% respectively. Conclusion: Rb-82 PET is more accurate for the detection of CAD compared with MRI. Thus, using Rb-82 PET may be more useful to get better CAD detection.
