Arrythmia Prevalence and Chronic Complications Post-Fontan Procedure in Paediatric Patients: Systematic Review
Abstract
This review suggested that the Fontan procedure is associated with a number of complications that could be developed long after the Fontan procedure was completed in children. This systematic review suggests there is a need to consider the sutures lines and incision placement, as it has been shown that these interventions could lower the prevalence of arrythmia in patients. A key limitation was not finding any randomised controlled trial studies that confirm the findings of this review. Recommendations for future studies include analysing the findings of this review statistically in order to measure the significance of the narrative outcomes.
