The Government of Saudi Arabia has developed Vision 2030 for making the country more economically advanced and socially progressive while ensuring true allegiance to the Islamic faith. This vision encompasses three pillars, creating a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation. This research focuses on the second pillar and has examined various objectives and actions relating to it since the contemporary origin of Saudi Arabia. The economic policies of the government have been examined and suitable recommendations have been presented by employing three strategic planning models, Miles and Snow, Rubin and Porter. Furthermore, the research has compared the policy formulation mechanisms and approach of the Saudi government with those of the UK government and has identified key similarities and differences. It has primarily relied on secondary data, which has revealed that both governments consider economic diversification and job creation to be central to long-term economic growth and prosperity and for this, they are encouraging private sector firms to exploit available market opportunities and realise optimum output in their respective domains. However, both Saudi Arabian and UK governments have distinct challenges, which are likely to hinder the attainment of their economic vision. Hence, this study suggests addressing these issues on an immediate basis following which; both the legislatures can make optimum use of their resources and capabilities and develop a thriving economy by 2030 through continuous engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
