Abstract
This study examines the linkage between knowledge management processes and employee performance in the presence of technology readiness as a mediator in the Hail Health Cluster in Saudi Arabia. In line with the aim of the Saudi Vision 2030 to transform the healthcare sector, the research identifies gaps in the literature by demonstrating how systematic knowledge management can enhance the effectiveness of an organization. The research has a quantitative design and the Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) is used to compare data of 370 healthcare professionals working in five large hospitals in Hail. The measurement of knowledge management is in five dimensions organising, accessibility, sharing, storage, and application. The model incorporates Knowledge Based Resource Theory, Technology Acceptance Model and Total Quality Management theory in order to form a good theoretical foundation. Findings indicate that there are strong direct relationships between majority of KM areas and employee performance. The greatest positive influence is observed in organising. The application of technology is also mediated by technology readiness. But performance does not yield any important direct impact with sharing and application, and there is no important relation between organising and technology readiness as well. The measurement model is found to be highly reliable, and valid, with all the constructs being at high levels of internal consistency and validity. The structural model establishes great explanatory power and prediction relevance of employee performance and technology readiness. The study adds to the theoretical literature because it establishes a mediation effect of technology preparedness in knowledge-intensive healthcare and expands KM literature on the developing country setting. In practice, the results inform administrators and policymakers in terms of making strategic investments in digital infrastructure, KM systems, and training. The research has provided practical suggestions that can be applied to enhance the provision of services with the systematic KM and technological integration to assist in the transformation agenda of the healthcare in Saudi Arabia. The cross-sectional nature and particular geographic scope are shortcomings implying that longitudinal and cross-circumstantial research can be pursued in other health care environments.
