Analysis of an enantiopure intermediate of an (R)-ω-1-methoxy mycolic acid of Mycobacterium alvei
Abstract
Mycolic acids (MAs) are long-chain (C60-90) fatty acids and are present in the cell wall of mycobacteria, with different mycobacteria containing different classes of these compounds. This paper describes the synthesis and analysis of an enantiopure intermediate towards the synthesis of a full ω-1-methoxy mycolic acid from Mycobacterium alvei.
