The Vascular Effects of NOX1 and NOX2 and their Associations with Cardiovascular Complications
Abstract
Abstract
NOX1 and NOX2 are members of the NADPH oxidase family that cause oxidative stress.
NOX1 and NOX2 are also implicated in the development of cardiovascular diseases such
as coronary artery diseases, hypertension, stroke, and atherosclerosis, etc. This project
aimed to analyse various studies that investigate the involvement of NOX1 and NOX2 in
the development of cardiovascular diseases. While some studies suggest a strong link
between the expression of NOX1 and NOX2 and the development of cardiovascular
diseases, other studies find no such link between the expression of NOX1 and NOX2 and
cardiovascular diseases. Given these inconsistent results, this review intended to
investigate this issue by carrying out further examination of the associations between
NOX1 and NOX2 cytosolic subunits and cardiovascular diseases.
