This thesis work deals with a heterogeneous communication strategy by applying the long-short protocol to link distributed nodes on the network to share data and reduce energy consumption. The overall idea is to employ heterogeneous communication using the long-short protocol, which is an IEEE 802.15.4 standard-based protocol (Zigbee) alongside low-power LoRAWAN (SX1276). These protocols promote short-range communication by enabling data to be transferred through IEEE 802.15.4 and MSP430FR5994. Also, they allow long-range communication by utilizing the LoRAWAN protocol for long distances. This communication methodology helps reduce power consumption to save energy and reduce the effect of leakage by developing Zero Power Water Meter.
