?To what extend the Egyptian narrative of the October war has changed
Abstract
This study presents a number of Egyptian narratives about the October 1973 war, while focusing heavily on the differences in Egyptian narratives in a number of sensitive war topics and issues. The study is based on a critique of government narratives that were written by politicians, writers, or officers loyal to the Egyptian government and to the president Anwar Sadat for a number of war events and issues, by citing more credible accounts written by officers, politicians, and writers whom had a major role in exposing lies and propaganda narratives that were issued by the government For a number of reasons, the most important of which is the misleading of public opinion and the covering up of government failure with fake victories to give legitimacy to continuing to rule the country. The study dealt with a number of important topics that are directly related to the war, such as the politics of Anwar Sadat, the Soviet-Egyptian relationship, Arab support for Egypt, the theatre of military operations, negotiations with the Zionists and peace agreements.
