Abstract
This study addresses critical challenges in the supply chain management (SCM) of the iron ore sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and emphasises the significance of resilience and contingency planning. The research identifies challenges such as project overload, time constraints, climate variations, price fluctuations, import reliance and governance issues that impede SCM efficiency. Through using a perceptual questionnaire, data collected from 52 participants and analysed through using statistical methods and thematic analysis.
The findings indicate that SCM in the KSA's iron ore sector promotes transparency, technological integration, and effective communication. Moreover, resilience factors include robust mechanisms, proactive risk identification and regular strategy updates. Contingency planning encompasses well-documented strategies, stakeholder training, simulations, and pandemic-driven improvements. The sector anticipates future growth through research and innovation, digital transformation and international collaboration.
This research contributes into enhancing the SCM of the KSA's iron ore sector through emphasising its resilience and preparedness to address disruptions in an evolving global economy.
