The number of Muslims worldwide reached 1.91 billion in 2021.1 Islam is the second-largest religion in the world and the fastest spreading.2 However, Muslims are subjected to several forms of religious discrimination and rights violations. For example, Muslim women are being prevented from wearing a headscarf, violating their right to practice their religion. This paper discusses judicial precedents of the European Court of Human Rights in which women were prohibited from wearing the hijab and compares them with judicial precedents related to non-Islamic religious symbols. This paper aims to prove that preventing Muslim women from wearing the veil or imposing restrictions that limit the practice is a form of discrimination. The paper also aims to establish that these are violations of Muslim women's basic rights
