dc.description.abstractThe effect of human capital on economic growth is an old topic but at the same time a not very clear one. Mixed empirical findings about the impact of human capital tend to trigger more research on the subject. The current paper examines 25 OECD countries for a period of 15 years and its conclusion suggests further investigation as well. The counterintuitive results of the negative impact of human capital on the economy favor, to some extent, the view that the proxy of human capital should be the student’s achievements, and not the level of investment in education
