Abstract
This dissertation explores the integration of sustainability within the context of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, focusing specifically on two key megaprojects: AlUla and The Red Sea Project. Vision 2030 is a transformative initiative aimed at diversifying the Saudi economy, reducing its reliance on oil, and promoting sustainable development across various sectors. The research investigates how sustainability initiatives are embedded within the management and operational frameworks of these projects, which are central to achieving the broader objectives of Vision 2030, including environmental conservation, economic diversification, and social development.
This study uses a comparative case study approach, integrating qualitative interviews with project managers and secondary data from official reports and existing literature. The research uncovers key findings such as the deployment of innovative technologies, including renewable energy systems and ecological monitoring tools, as well as the adoption of sustainability measurement frameworks like the KPIs.
