what are the staff perspectives of the challenges or barriers, and the facilitating factors for participating in PSHs :A literature review
Abstract
In today's healthcare settings, the achievement of effective communication and teamwork remains a major challenge. Poor communication between healthcare providers is one of the leading causes of 80% of medical errors and adverse events. In this light, Patient Safety Huddle (PSH) is a brief, stand-up and multidisciplinary meeting that has commonly been used in the U.S and the UK, which has proven to have a positive impact on improving communication, encouraging teamwork, and promotion of safety culture. Reviewing the literature indicated that less attention has been given to the challenges and facilitating factors related to PSHs. Further, this study has focused on determining the factors that can influence staff during the implementation.
