Abstract

This project was conducted to the poorly soluble drugs under class II to investigate the factors or combination of factors that have significant effect on the drug solubility and to know the nature of that effect if it’s positive to recommend it for patient or if its negative to recommend the patient to avoid it. It was found that basic drugs are majorly affected by bile salts and pH without any combination between them which mean we recommend patient taking poorly soluble basic drugs after meal to increase the solubility which will improve the bioavailability. While for natural drugs many components combination specially combinations with bile salts and sodium oleate have improved drug solubility which mean a recommendation for the patient to take the drug after meal. Finally, for acidic drugs its majorly depending on the ration of ionised and non-ionised functional groups which mean no general rule for patient to take the drug. Further research is required to determine the impact of various foods and diseases on the solubility equilibrium of drugs of this nature.
