Abstract
Social distancing has imposed restrictions on people’s activity. Social distancing policies are essential to help avoid gatherings and people’s contact with each other, especially at the time of COVID-19.In the George Holt building at Liverpool University, a lab that has 70 seats can accommodate 70 students. Seventy students may need to leave the lab, and 70 students enter in 10 minutes. This seems impossible to implement with social distancing. This project aims to use AnyLogic software to simulate students moving in and out of the building while maintaining social distancing. Agent-based modelling is used, which involves modelling a system as a collection of autonomous decision-making entities that are referred to as agents. These agents are responsible for assessing situations individually, where a decision is made based on certain rules. The simulation results show that when increasing the time of checking at the entrance and the number of students in a lab, the simulation time increases. However, the simulation time decreased slightly when the speed of student movement increased.
