Abstract
Translation has played an enormous role in transferring knowledge between
different cultures and languages. Gentzler (2014), discusses translation through history
both as an activity and an academic discipline. According to him, translation as an
activity may dates back to as much as thousands of years. Furthermore, it was a
significant activity that connects major nations and kingdoms at that time. As an
academic discipline, however, translation is considered to be modern to some extent.
The turning point from which translation began to be widely accepted as a field of study
can be marked by Nida’s contribution in this field (Panou, 2013). In the 1960s, Nida
referred to his theories as “science of translating” (Ghanooni, 2012). However, in 1972,
James Holmes proposed the currently approved term, i.e. translation studies(Ghanooni,
2012, Panou, 2013). From this turning point, translation studies started to be recognized
as a field which resulted in the emergence of several theories. Those theories address
issues related to translation which allows the translator to produce more accurate target
texts (TT). This commentary provides a detailed analysis for the translation conducted
according to the commission shown above
