Sociological analysis of terrorism and its core causes

Abstract

The objective of this study is to sociologically investigate the phenomenon of terrorism and its core causes. The first section is mainly devoted to the long-debated question of what terrorism is. The following sections concentrate on critically assessing the core causes of terrorism. Individual physiology and will be explored, followed by a delineation of the structural causes of terrorism—mainly economic conditions and poverty. The study employs a methodology based on secondary data and applies the sociological imagination to highlight gaps and weaknesses in the literature.
